2017 David Busta Bags Tournament & Silent Auction

Tournament Info

The tournament will consist of four divisions – competitive, recreational, couples and youth (ages 17 and under). Registration fee is $40 per team for competitive, recreational and couples divisions and $30 per team for the youth division. Registration fee includes a t-shirt and a minimum of three games (assuming a minimum number of entrants).

Registering before November 14, 2017 guarantees a spot in the tournament and a T-shirt in your requested size. Teams will be able to register after November 14, 2017 if space allows, but T-shirts and sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Competitive division will play for a cash prize, plus a gift bag. Cash prize to be determined pending the number of entries, but will be a minimum of $100.

Recreational, Couples and Youth divisions will play for gift bags. A person can register for up to two divisions. For example, if a person wants to compete in the recreational division with one partner and in the couples division with another partner they may do so, but they will have to pay registration fees for both divisions.

Pool Play: Each team will begin by playing in a pool of 4-5 teams. Each team will play every other team in their pool one time. The team with the best record will advance to tournament play; all other teams within the pool will be eliminated. In the event of a tie, the team that won the head-to-head matchup advances. In the event more than two teams tie, the team with the greatest positive point differential advances.

Tournament Play: Teams will play an opponent in a best-of-three format. The winning team advances while the losing team is eliminated.

Scoring: The first team to 21 wins. Teams do not need to total exactly 21 to win – they can go over 21 without penalty. Teams do not need to win by more than one point.

3 points for any bag that goes through the whole, whether thrown in, knocked in by another player or an act of God.

1 point for any bag that comes to rest on the board. The bag cannot touch the floor prior to reaching the board, nor while resting on the board.

Only one team can score per round/inning. The score is determined by subtracting the round/inning’s lower scoring team’s total from the higher team’s scoring total. For example, if Team A scores 5 points and Team B scores 3 points, Team A scores 2 points for that round/inning. If each team scores the same amount in a round/inning, neither team receives a point.

* The David Busta Bags Tournament and Silent Auction reserves the right to make changes to the divisions or tournament formation based on the number of entrants. They may also alter the length of games if time constraints become an issue.
