2005 Event Recap

For the first time, we added a women's championship to the tournament docket and it was one of the best additions to the overall event. You think the men are competitive - you should've seen this women's game. Team Jacob edged out Team Rockwood by a narrow 4-point margin - the women's game also brought several new spectators to our event. Another new thing in 2005 was the event DVD that was put together - see someone on our committee if you would like to donate and receive one.

There was a challenge posed by 2004's anonymous donor to come up with an interesting framework to determine their donation in this year. So, David's idea was to base it on the total number of points scored in the tournament by $5 per point, and resulted in a near $10,000 donation again. We had several quilts on the auction this year, including one made by the Stitchin' Sisters Quilting Guild of Chetek. The businesses in and around Chetek and other business contacts in cities throughout the country, along with our wide network of personal friends and family, continue to amaze our committee with their overwhelming generosity.

Team Cowley took the men's championship again, starting what looks to be the start of a perennial powerhouse in our tournament. Once again, the player's pizza banquet was a huge success.
